Day 4 – The Zoo

Today was a bit of a relaxation day in Melbourne. I decided this was a great opportunity to head to the Melbourne Zoo. The zoo was not the most spectacular but it had all manner of marsupials that you probably won’t see anywhere else. I spent a while checking out all of the poisonous snakes and spiders that make Australia one of the most dangerous continents on earth. Then it was off to the furry and cuddly section where there were kangaroos (known to balance on their tails and attack with their hind feet when threatened), wallabies, wombats, platypus, Tasmanian devils, and koalas (koala is aboriginal for no drink – koalas get most of their water from the eucalyptus leaves – its claws can be 3-4 inches long. Maybe not so cuddly after all.
