Whirlwind tour day number 1

After staying up all night to plan my trip I found out from Vietnam Airlines that they only have one flight from BKK to Siagon per day at 2pm. So it was a mad dash back to the airport multiple trips to and from the travel agency and airline front desk arguing over whether I truly was preapproved for a visa on arrival.

Little european motos are every where, similar to most asian countries but here they seem particularly fearless - we nearly hit two during my 15 minute trip from the airport. Got off at the backpacker's hangout and was instantly bombarded with offers for rooms from 3-15 dollars/night. The three dollar one's looked nice but I felt like I was living in someones room as I walked past the rest of their family to my upstairs abode. I finally opted for an inbetweener with air condition and its own private bath.

Though I am in HCMC, Vietnam it seems alot like thailand, people out all night, continuous traffic, smoke and exhaust fills the air with loud blaring techno music and farang everywhere. Hopefully, with some of my trips to smaller towns along the way I can avoid some of this. Though tonight has been nice to hang out and drink with some english speakers. Beer almost as cheap as water and food is less than a dollar for most meals, what more could you ask for.

The Vietnamese people have been very helpful and understanding of me as I poorly attempt their language and make social "pho pas

The climate has taken some getting used to. You sweat all of the time and you clothes never dry, after choosing a room I was thouroghly soaked cleaned up only to begin an instant sweat when I went back outside.

Well of again, I think tomorrow I will go visit the Cu Cho tunnels and some local wats
Pics will soon follow I promise.
